Love of Motherland
Love of Motherland
My youngest grandfather, Mr. Kailash Nath Pandey (the Youngest Brother of my Grandfather), was working as Senior Engineer at BHEL(Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd), Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. He was a highly dedicated engineer who was fully devoted to his responsibilities & because of this he has crafted a reputation as the most loved engineer at his organization, BHEL. Not only he was a great engineer but a fluent communicator as well. His knowledge of the English Language was extraordinary. He was an avid reader who, along with technology books, used to read many Motivational & fictional books almost daily. Reading was his passion. After getting gracefully retired from BHEL, he decided to move to our hometown, which is a beautiful small village in Uttar Pradesh, Nawali.
When he told his plans to his colleagues, they were surprised to hear that leaving city life, he wants to go to the village. But very humbly he said," Whatever I am today, it is all because of my great birthplace. Due to my hectic work life, I never got a chance to spend sufficient time in my village. But today is the time to be where I truly belong." And he, along with his wife, shifted to our village home.
He used to enjoy himself a lot in the village but along with that, he followed a disciplined life. His day started with waking up at 4 AM the morning, finishing his morning tasks & prayer. After that, he used to teach "Spoken English" to village children. He often said, "Today's children are tomorrow's India. Therefore they must be fluent in English because the coming time is going to be the time of globalisation". Seeing this world now in the year 2022, I realise how visionary he was.
His only mission after retirement was to make his village people fluent in English. He often used to visit our village school & gave free lectures to the students about how they should focus on spoken English without ignoring their core subjects. The Principal & teachers of the school had huge respect for him in their hearts. One day the Principal of the school, very humbly, asked him," Sir, why do you take so much pain for students? You should take care of your health." To this, my grandfather said, "Sir, I love this school & this is the place where I can meet all the lovely kids together at the same time. I am retired person now. My children are working hard in the city. Your kids bring happiness to my lonely heart. They are like my own children. They are young India."
The principal got emotional after listening to the words of my grandfather. He said, "Sir, you are really great. You are a true Indian. And I know the reason, why our students treat you like a father."
Till his last breath, Mr.Kailash Nath Pandey went to the village school. His entire life after retirement is about dedication & commitment towards the cause of Village Education. Hat's off to this great teacher.
