Little Chunmunn....
Little Chunmunn....
Innu and I were walking towards the elevator in the dark and creepy basement parking. Suddenly a small form moved...Innu grabbed my arm "look something is moving there"... he pointed at the floor...."God!! Let it not be an alien"...he blurted!! The mind of a nine-year-old fed on a daily dose of Sci-Fi, cartoons, etc.
we moved closer and switched on the alley lights and there was a form very clumsily moving around. It was a sparrow chick that had fallen down from the nest. After looking around ee spotted a tabby cat moving around suspiciously.....a few meters away strays were looming large!! I just couldn't leave the chick there with so many predators hanging around. So finally the chick was gently kept in a shoebox with some cotton for cushioning and brought home.
The chick brought so much excitement to the kids! Little monu:s joy knew no bounds!! He could see a potential pet..... &n
bsp;started calling it "Chunmunn". Plans were made to celebrate Chunmunn's Birthday party, to take chunmunn to play areas, Sandpit, swing, slide, cricket, etc.
Poor little chunmunn just didn't know what was happening around!! While the kids were busy planning things, Chunmunn's nest was located.
With the help of a big ladder, Chunmunn was safely placed in its nest!! There were very loud chirping noises from the nest!! Probably the family was happy to have chunmunnn back!! We waited for half an hour to ensure, it didn't fall again. The place was visited periodically to check on Chunmunn!
The kids bade goodbye to chunnmunn with a very heavy heart, but they always made a point to stand below the nest to speak a few words with Chunnmunn. Whenever a sparrow flies by Monu screams " Look our Chunmunn"!! Bye Chunmunn!!Every Sparrow is Chunmunn for us now..... I hope you stay safe and happy Chunmunn!!
