As a little girl Pranpriya Manoban was a Big Bang and 2NE1 fan. She always wanted to be an idol and loved to dance and sing. Her mother encouraged her to take singing and dance classes, which she willingly attended. 

After a fortune teller told Pranpriya and her parents that the name “Lalisa” would bring her good fortune because Lalisa means “One who will receive praises” in Thai, Lisa’s parents legally changed her name from Pranpriya to Lalisa.

A few years after the change in Lisa’s name, YG auditions were held in Thailand. When Marco(her stepfather and a wealthy swiss chef)saw that there was a spot open, he immediately signed her up, and in April 2011 at 14 years old, Lisa was flown to South Korea for her audition.

When asked how she felt being away from her parents and being in Korea, not knowing any Korean, she replied, "I was a mama's girl. So when I had to go to Korea without mom, I felt that I had to take care of myself now. I was 14, such a kid. I didn't speak any Korean. I only knew how to say 'hello,' so it really was a new start. Fortunately, there was Jennie. She was the only one who could speak English among the trainees. I spoke English with her and if something were to happen, I would talk to her."

In describing how she felt having to wait so long for the results, Lisa said, "After the audition ended, I waited for the call. I was waiting and waiting. I waited for two months! And then they called me.”    

She was the only one out of 4,000 people to rank first in the competition. Seeing this, Yang Hyun-suk gave her the chance to become a trainee for YG entertainment and she took it. After five years of training she became the first Thai K-POP Idol. 

She was put in a girl group of three others Jennie Kim, Kim Jisoo, and Park Cheyoung (better known as Rosé) and they were given the name Pink Punk, but they changed their name to 

BlackPink. The name Black Pink was supposed to say that “Pretty isn’t everything” and it was also symbolizing that the group is not just beautiful but they also possess a lot of talent. 

With Lisa’s later discovered talent for rapping, she became the groups main rapper and later the second sub vocal of the group. She can fluently speak Thai, Korean, Japanese and English,is the Maknae of Black Pink, and is the most followed Kpop Idol.
