Arjun was a very sensitive and a shy natured boy, which made his parents, worried as to how he would take up preschool. Jaya, Arjun's mother, was almost in tears thinking about the school. Her husband, Krish, pacified her and slowly, Jaya understood the need of a preschool for Arjun and they got him admitted into the city's prestigious school.

On day 1, as expected Arjun wouldn't leave his parents' hand, leave aside getting into the classroom.

Day 2 was no different either. Days passed by, Arjun got somewhat adjusted but would keep crying every now and then asking for his mom.

Jaya was worried about Arjun and used to pray to God that somehow Arjun should start liking the school. Soon, midterm was over. Jaya got busy in her office and household work and that slowly diverted her mind from Arjun's adjustment at school.

After the autumn break, Arjun went to the classroom hesitantly. Jaya and her husband, Krish, spoke to the new teacher about Arjun's nature, and the teacher told them not to worry, and she went inside the class. Arjun was looking out for his friends, Sudhanva and Koustubh, both were not there. Before he could start crying, he was gently lifted by his ma'am, who patted his back. Arjun could feel the magic in the ma'am's hands, which was different from that of the old teacher he had known. He lifted his head to see the face of his ma'am, and he was startled to see the new face, who was his new teacher, but this ma'am's magical touch and the soothing eyes made him quiet and calm. Seeing this from the window, Jaya and Krish left to office happily.

He had started liking his new ma'am. He wanted to know her name, but it was time to go home and he himself volunteered to hold his ma'am's hands and walked into the bus bay. Arjun waved his arms to his new ma'am who waved at him back.

Arjun was waiting to go home and tell this to his parents and he did so in the evening when his parents reached home. This time, Jaya had to literally bribe Arjun to go to sleep so that he could stop talking about his new ma'am.

Slowly Arjun had started to like going to school and it seemed to Jaya as though God had heard her prayers. One day, Jaya took him to the vegetable shop. Arjun exclaimed in happiness, pineapple and pleaded Jaya that she should buy one for him. On the way back, Arjun gave a wonderful speech on pineapple and it's health benefits. Jaya was all the more happy, and took Arjun's handbook out and had missed reading the speech, which was pinned in his handbook by his ma'am. Tears rolled down her cheeks, while she acknowledged by writing a thank you note in Arjun's handbook. Jaya remembered Arjun's ma'am telling her that Arjun would definitely do wonders in life.

Jaya and Krish were very happy with Arjun's progress as they could see how Arjun had participated in all the extracurricular activities, including winning the first prize in a running race. It was the Cultural Day celebrations at school and Arjun was practising for the fruit dance wherein he had donned up the role of a pineapple. Jaya and Krish were well aware of the song as Arjun used to sing it every day at home. They had come early for the program and had occupied the front seats. It was Arjun's turn to talk about pineapple and dance, which he did with his cute baby talk, which attracted a huge round of applause from the audience.

Jaya and Krish had to attend a meeting and were about to leave the auditorium when they were stopped by the speech. It was the vote of thanks by none other than Arjun. Jaya held her husband's hand tightly. She couldn't believe it was Arjun, who used to cry to go to school, was now on stage, delivering a full-length speech. She just ran and hugged him. Arjun told his mom that he still had one more sentence to deliver and that was his own line, "thank you ma'am" and he ran and hugged his ma'am.

Jaya and Krish were happy to relocate to the United Kingdom. When they broke the news to Arjun, his first question was "will my ma'am come with me to my new school in London?", on hearing which both Jaya and Krish were speechless. Jaya left to the UK early and Krish was to join her later with Arjun.

On the last day of school, Arjun hugged his ma'am, and wouldn't leave her until Krish instructed him to do so. Krish told the news of their relocation to the UK to Arjun's ma'am, who was happy for Arjun and kissed him bye. Arjun kissed her back innocently, not knowing that he wouldn't be able to meet his ma'am in the coming years.

After Arjun left, his ma'am came inside the classroom and though she tried hard to control her tears, she couldn't. She ran towards the classroom window, to catch a glimpse of her Arjun, who happily walked away with his dad. How she wished, she could have taken a photo with Arjun. Alas! She came back to her table and was surprised to see the gift. It had "with love, Arjun" written by Arjun in his own handwriting. She slowly opened it and was very happy to see Arjun's photo album with her and his other class activities. While some of her colleagues had received expensive gifts from their children and were exhibiting them in the staff room, Arjun's ma'am, clenched the album in her hand, and she took it home and treasured it for life, thanking Arjun's parents wholeheartedly.

Years passed by, Arjun made sure that he would meet his ma'am whenever he visited India, this time he came to his ma'am with a big trophy and a gold medal for he had been awarded the best student of the year from a prestigious university. Arjun's ma'am looked at the sky and thanked God as this was the most expensive gift that she had received from her favourite student, Arjun.

Good Luck Arjun,

From your Ma'am.
