Are you open-minded? Most people might answer yes, but is that true? What are the benefits of being open-minded?


How Can We Learn To Open Our Minds Further?


According to Psychology Compass: "Open-mindedness does not come naturally to everyone. Do you find you often have trouble thinking about things in different ways? Do you (or others) consider yourself to be stubborn or strongly opinionated?


If so, you might be someone who engages in black-and-white (dichotomous) thinking – the opposite of open-minded thinking. Although beneficial for making quick decisions and simple understanding, a dichotomous thinking style can sometimes be

interpersonally problematic when people who tend to think in black and white encounter others who hold different opinions."


Since we are experiencing polarizing times and need to get back to where it's okay to have different viewpoints and opinions, being more open-minded can help change our situations. We need to expand our thinking, learn new material and look for and develop new solutions for the problems plaguing our world. We start at home and then outward to our friends and family, the community, countries, and the whole world.


Being open-minded allows us to see possibilities we never imagined, feel hopeful for better communication and understanding, and become a being of love for humanity so that we can live in peace. Being open-minded helps expand your life and view of the world. Give it a try, you just might like it!
