In the old streets of London, the Smith family used to live. They were not elite, they had a family business and Mr. Smith was the owner of the company. They manufactured pens which were not popular as other companies, but still they were self confident and did not give up. It was Friday morning when Jack Smith, a student of the sixth, and also the eldest son of the family was attending his last class before the winter vacation. His brother Peter was reading storybooks in their home as his vacation had already begun. It was 4o’clock in the evening when Jack returned home despondently.

His brother asked him why he was so dejected. In a depressed voice he said that every students of his class were going on a vacation and he was the only one who was not. Peter also felt somber after hearing it as he was also staying home. It was 9o’clock when Mr. Smith returned home from work with a good news. Both the brothers and Mrs. Smith became curious to know it. In an inquisitive manner, they asked, ‘what is the good news’. Mr. Smith replied that they were going on a trip in the outskirts of London for few days. Both the brothers were very happy after hearing it. They curiously asked him,’ when will we go to the trip?’

Mr. Smith said that they would be going there the next week. Later that night before sleeping, Mrs. Smith asked Mr. Smith from where he had got so much money. In a jovial voice he said that their pen had sold more comparing to the previous years and they had earned a lot of money from it. Mrs. Smith felt jubilant after hearing it. Finally, the day of their trip had come and both the brothers, Jack and Peter were very excited. A red coloured car had come to their house and they were going to travel with it. It was 9o’clock, in the morning when they had started of their journey. They travelled for 3-4 hours without taking any break.

Finally around 12:30 they had reached their destination. The place where they had reached was very gloomy and desolate. They reached their hotel after few minutes. The hotel was very big and palatial. But only few tourists were there. Mrs. Smith asked Mr. Smith, why he had booked such a palatial hotel.’ After hearing it Mr. Smith laughed and replied Mrs. Smith not to worry as the rooms of the hotel were very cheap. Mrs. Smith got surprised after hearing the tariff. They went to their rooms after that. The hotel had an indoor games room which attracted the brothers. Both of them went there to play some games. The amenity was little far from their room, it was in the terrace. Both of them played there table tennis. It was 2:30 when they were called back to their room as the lunch was served. After the lunch they again went to the indoor games room at 5o’clock. It was 6o’clock when they decided to return.

There was a sudden heavy shower accompanied by power cut. The younger brother Peter was startled. In a tensed voice he said, ’what will happen Jack? , we are stuck’. Jack replied not to worry as he was with him. Half an hour had passed but both the brothers could not move out. Suddenly Jack had an uncanny feeling, he asked his brother if he was hearing any song played on the piano or not. Peter confirmed about the sound and said that he was very scared. Jack said,’ we are the only one in the room, how is this possible’. Both of them got panic stricken.

They rushed to their room. Everyone had asked them why they had hastened so quickly. They drank water and narrated the whole incident. Everyone got frazzled after hearing it. Next morning they informed the caretaker of the hotel about it. The caretaker chuckled and told that it was nothing to be worried about. Last night a British pianist who had come there as a tourist, was practicing piano in the music room. Both the brothers asked him where the music room was located. The caretaker replied that it was located in the same building where the indoor games room was located. After hearing it Jack and Peter got relieved and also felt quite ashamed because of their foolishness.
