Yes, I'm A New Mother...

Gone are the days when I was completely careless & free,

Sorry now can't even text or call, am as busy as a bee!

What? Don't you agree with me or you don't wanna bother?

You ought to realize my troubles as I am a new mother!

Ruffled hair, grumpy, sleepy look, swollen, fiery red eyes,

No time for long showers, relaxed meals or dress up nice!

Don't remember when did I last had a long peaceful sleep?

The fidgety me gets alarmed on hearing just a minute beep!

Room gets full of dirty smelly diapers and clothings soiled,

There's some baby food to be cooked & milk to be boiled!

Headache, sutures, and this nagging constant back pain,

Mirror keeps reminding me of my massive weight gain!

There's no social life except baby chores, forget the hobbies,

Who has time for movies, even my playlist has only lullabies!

There's frustration, irritation and anger in all its shades or hues,

My crying at the drop of a hat is labelled postpartum blues!

But what makes me so strong and gives energy for the above,

Its my baby's gentle divine touch and ofcourse motherly love!

My heart melts, I leap with joy on hearing his lovely voice,

His chuckles and cute smile makes my core rejoice!

This has been a blessing for which every woman craves,

Though quite hard but these are her most wonderful days!

To be creator of this universe and give birth to a new soul,

In her womb it grew into a beautiful baby from a tiny mole!

This pleasure mixed with pain gives her courage to do the tasks upbeat ,

It rips her apart into two, yet also makes her feel complete!

This unique bond teaches one to sacrifice and become selfless,

To learn to value other's feelings above own's happiness!

The simple thought of being away from my loved one makes me shudder,

That was the moment when I realized truly I've become a mother!
