For aeons, the sermons have been to help our fellow men,
But we remain mute spectators to dying brethren;
And now we are exhorted to keep away from the breathless,
Quo Vadis humanity, goodness, and kindness!
Isn’t pestilence as old as civilisation
Working together has saved us from annihilation!
A nano being has pulled us apart
We need to remember, to care and have a heart!
While the savagery of COVID pales before that of Auschwitz
A vaccine for COVID is imperative.
The poor in unending queues for food
The daily wage earner mourning lost livelihood.
We should have soon, an antidote for this bug
That has snatched the magic of an arm around our shoulders and the reassurance of a warm hug.
