The slow burn to growth

The slow burn to growth

Oh to embrace its essence,

finally as we step out,

from our shut doors to reminisce,

the true victory and seek the non -repulsive route.

On the verge to conquer womanhood,

I lay with my head on thorns,

dreaming of stepping into the deadly neighbourhood,

and for fear’s death to mourn.

It’s not gonna be easy,

that’s what I learn.

Real life is messy,

but it’s beautiful to see it unfurl.

To lose is not a sin,

to love is not a crime,

the decisions are mine,

for this time might be my prime.

So with a open heart I pry,

for growth in me to pass by.

For my mind to reply,

for its time to face the music and say goodbye.
