The Only One

The one who cared for us like no one else,
Who gave up her dreams for our richness in self.
She left her own joy so we could smile,
And walked with pain, yet all the while.

She fed us first, though she was tired,
Prayed for our health, her strength expired.
Late into nights, she stayed near,
Helping us learn, calming each fear.

She cooked each meal with love so wide,
And kept her pain and hunger inside.
She gave her sleep so ours would be sound,
Carried our world, when hers unwound.

Strong as a pillar, gentle in grace,
She held us firm in every place.
The one, the only none above her
Forever and always, my dear mother.
