The Mask She Braves!

Breathing in, she observes the coldness that surrounds her life. 

Bickering souls slowly turning her rigid.

Devoid of emotions. 

She leaves her bed. 

Pillows wet from the tears of the night.

Sheets dazed with the scent of nothing more than herself. 

Braving the sharp light, she prepares her mask. 

The mask that's made the world ignore who she really is.

Does she know who she really is? She hasn't asked herself yet. 

The world, blinded by apathy, consumed by lust, follows her. 

Endearing as she is, she falls prey to false fantasies created by men whose worlds are nothing more than themselves. 

She has had enough. Eyes stuttering open, she sees a world where beauty is much more than the people that excite her nerves. 

"Pick yourself up. Brush yourself down."

For the stench of past mistakes seldom clear up. 

"Light your life. Love yourself. Become more than what you are"

For the mask hides something more than truth, it hides beauty.

A beauty ethereal to the gods who created it. So elegant, yet so strong.

For when the doorman opens the new life up,

She braves a smile and says

"This is where I begin. A life entirely mine.

Free from the burdens of my past.

Into a world where nothing is fair and everything shall be"
