That Isn't Cool

That Isn't Cool

We are all so different and yet so similar as women.

All can feel the pain of some form at some point in their lives.

Everyone has memories they'd rather forget.

Rain must fall on everyone's life at some point.

Have you ever sobbed in the middle of an interview because you began talking about your family?

Have you ever had a relationship with your boyfriend?

He wanted to go celebrate, he told you,

Which meant no hugging or holding hands.

A woman in a short dress is not asking for sex.

Stop using the word "love" to describe sexual harassment

From rubbing your body against hers without her permission,

Stop checking her entire body from top to bottom.

A late-night cab ride with a girl is not advantageous,

Wearing shorts and sleeveless tops does not imply that you should regard her body as though it were your own.

Women are not to be treated as artefacts.

Because she turned down your proposal, a girl is burned on the street.

Since she declined to be a housewife, a wife is stabbed on the Streets.

No, that isn't cool.

My female friends tell me unbelievable but real stories.

They're scary things that haven't happened to me,

 Haven't happened to me yet,

And we're watching our disbelief with horror.

Such occurrences cannot happen to us; but, they do,

And we sit around a table and say stories about them before we believe.

This isn't fiction; it's Real Life.

The rape reports you read in the news are not the only ones.

Women are being raped all over India, in all cities, even in communities,

And our government is completely oblivious to it.

In our world, rape has evolved into a separate community.

It is, without a doubt, the country's most well-known culture.

Thanks to the rule of law!
