Terminal
Terminal
Possibilities galore in life so dull
Do you ever stop for a moment to mull?
Or are you leading a life so fine
That what I say is just pearls before swine?
What have you done, walker on two feet
Do you delude yourself, do yourself you cheat?
An achievement so wondrous it surpasses all
Maybe helped someone up when they did fall?
From ape to human, does that make you proud
Do you seek life, or are you lost in a crowd?
Did you have dreams that swept your mind
Have you given it up, a regular life to find?
Ever thought what could be a good deed to do
Or did you never think of being one amongst few?
Never had the zeal to go beyond your day
Or did you just think, "If I had time, I may"?
What is your legacy, what do you bequeath
To the skies above you, to the earth beneath?
What do you want people to remember you by
Your child, your money, or the tale of your try?
An attempt to contribute, no matter how meek
Anything for anyone to make their world less bleak?
A memory of an act which made a small difference
Anyone other than you who got some preference?
What is your life worth, if not even a second look
Will you be in a memory, or maybe in a book?
Does the fire in your heart occasionally burn
A place amongst gods do you think you can earn?
Not mythical, not unseen, will you be the hand of fate
When you die will you be welcome at the pearly gate?
So many questions I ask of you, will you change
Or a sad epitaph for you should I arrange?
Wake up, yes you with the blindfold
Change a life and do something bold
Don't waste your life and end up nominal
Deeds live on, life is terminal
