In the depths of grief and despair I dwell,
Blessed to be alive, they say, think positive,
Yet the weight of sorrow holds me tight,
As I question the love of God, so infinite.
Life's blows, teach us lessons true,
Each action met with karma's reaction,
But why does suffering persist, I ask,
Why must pain be an unwavering attraction?
The universe, they say, is with me in my lows,
Influence from gods and demons left unchecked,
Yet amidst this cosmic dance, the choice is mine,
To navigate a world where suffering is decked.
I accept the undeniable presence of pain,
Not all are blessed to witness the morning light,
Strength from the universe, I seek in vain,
A mere ash in the vastness of divine sight.
But shouldn't suffering come with understanding?
A reason, a purpose, for each agonizing plight?
Children in war zones, cancer's cruel grasp, and
Mothers losing their precious children, a painful sight.
Yes, lessons must be learned from life's mistakes,
Gratitude held close, a guiding star in sight,
Yet, does it not make life a tedious bore,
When lessons upon lessons dim joy's pure light?
Life is a fleeting illusion, they say, a Maya,
Seeks salvation, becomes a saint, and preaches to all,
But why must the path be strewn with thorns,
Children trafficked, begging for food, their cries appeal?
The weak, the innocent, prey for the predators,
Silent trees slaughtered, their beauty erased,
If the universe is vast, its heart so grand,
Why do the vulnerable suffer, disgraced?
Accountability, they say, rests with us,
But life often exceeds our mere capability,
Elders and children starving, hunger's grasp,
Is it a man-made mistake or karmic liability?
If karma lingers, why is its judgment delayed,
To the next life, where the suffering is unknown?
Shouldn't the innocent escape punishment,
Or is it my past life's sins I must atone for?
In this search for answers,
I yearn to know, Innocent or guilty of a previous birth's plight,
May the truth be revealed, and may justice prevail,
For in understanding lies the solace of the night.
