Poverty; Lack Of Resource Or Mindset
Poverty; Lack Of Resource Or Mindset
As I think of poverty, images built up
Of parched faces and skeletal built up
Eyes filled up with unfulfilled hope
Wandering around with a wild grope
This is scary, this needs to cease
Survival for all should be with ease
But poverty if so thought, is true but shallow
Its forms divergent, cast a miserable shadow
Hardly looking beyond self, oblivious of society
Carving only for more, adding up anxiety
Deep in abundance, but devoid of an embrace
Is this not poverty, nobody there to match your pace?
Enjoying green pastures, with your family and friends
Blindfolded towards people, not meeting their ends
Days filled with a zest for life, but devoid of humanity
Is this not poverty, nurturing a malign mentality?
Indebting yourself, for nothing but survival
Appreciating something, which is paltry and trivial
Aplenty of everything, but devoid of savor
Is this not poverty, trading your pride for a favor?
Failing frequently, baffled by the intricacy
Scratching the head, at slightest complicacy
Highly educated, but devoid of knowledge
Is this not poverty, looking at someone to pull your sled?
Poverty need not necessarily be a lack of wealth
It can be a trifle mindset, loss of self-pride and health
Poverty cannot be eradicated by amassing a fortune
But by blowing evenly across, for a perfect tune
