Magenta dips her brush in white
and paints each petal's edge to dusk.
The throat is cream, the lip is wine,
the stem a green and patient bow.
Behind her, flowerpots and old stone steps
forget themselves. This is how grace arrives:
without announcement, a small bright parade
leaning toward whoever stops to look.
