Ode To Service And Sacrifice

Mother Teresa - A tale of compassion and care,

Saint Teresa of Kolkata - the world declares.

Draped in white with a subtle blue,

A mother who drew courage from the Triune.

From youth to frailty, she served,

Never once took acclaim for all she offered.

A foreigner in India, but made it a home away from home,

Embracing each Indian, as a brother and sister of her own.

Drawing guidance from Jesus, the source of all light and life,

Mother became a beacon herself in this world so broken in strife.

Her kind words with endless echoes,

Touched a million lives and more.

She didn’t do things big and great,

But small things with love that was great.

From picking up whining infants and toddlers abandoned,

To clothing the naked and feeding the banished.

Her heart poured out riches of greatness to the needy,

That which moved and transformed many a haughty.

She found direction and new perspectives in silence,

Strength to go on each day with confidence.

Love personified and simplicity epitomized,

An earthly mother she became to millions the society ostracized.

It is a kingly act to assist the fallen,

Only people as humble can tread this path less taken.
