Noises
Noises
Noises make
My world go ‘round
Noises that deafen
The quiet ground.
Noises around me
Noises I dread
Noises of children
Stomping ahead.
Noises on the road
Of honks and beeps
Noises of people
Rushing through the streets.
Noises that irritate
Noises that please
The clanking of utensils
The rustle of the leaves.
Noises streaming
From mosques and bells
The bark of canines
And vendor’s yells.
Noises that turn
My world upside down
Without these noises
There will be no sound.
So make a noise
To be heard loud and clear
Raise your voice
Create that cheer.
Noises in my head
Stir me up every night
At this unearthly hour
I am sitting just to write.
