Tragedy

My Soldier Called Home

My Soldier Called Home

Under dark skies, I can see the light

While sorrow fills our hearts tonight

Another day done passed me by

It feels like I'm drowning in the tide

I can't stand the way I feel alone

My soldier has been called home

As they placed the flag by your head

And promises of us being blessed

When I heard those shots ring out

My heart sunk at living without

You in my arms to think about

Us growing old to never come about

I can't stand the way I feel alone

My soldier has been called home

As they placed the flag by your head

And promises of us being blessed

My knees buckled as they said

Those final words that they read

Before placing you on the ground

My ears rang hearing those sounds

It's the memories we hold dear

That helps us get through our fears

I can still hear your voice in my ear

I can feel your love within my tears

The skies were filled with our tears

It's the rains of a million years

As I reminisce about you dear

A rain of sweet tears fall again

And I wish you were here to hold

In this house of the darkest depths

That's filled with haunted beds

It was my broken heart I took to rest

How could I let my angel rest?

Now the fires burning in my chest

Wringing out the tears of depressed

Cause my dreams had fallen to rest
