Where the demons of my mind reside, 

My dreams and aspirations to quell, 

Concocting the worst kinds of torture, 

Welcome to my own private hell. 

These abominations, my own creations, 

Keep me caged in this opaque cell, 

That wreaks havoc on my claustrophobic consciousness, 

Welcome to my own private hell. 

They feed off the raging inferno that is my doubt, 

In turn providing me with worse thoughts on which to dwell, 

That stoke not sate this unquenchable fire,

Welcome to my own private hell. 

On the surface of the deep and serene lake, my solace, 

They create ripples and disturbances so well, 

That flood my self with torrents of negativity,

Welcome to my own private hell. 

I'm showered with such contrasting theories, 

That good or bad becomes hard to tell, 

I'm aided here in making my worst decisions, 

Welcome to my own private hell. 

I'm plagued with memories, hardly ever good ones, 

That trap me in their despairing spell, 

While providing the background score, a gloomy refrain, 

Welcome to my own private hell. 

When I'm missing someone or something so hard, 

That my tears begin to swell, 

They gladly accentuate my feelings of misery, 

Welcome to my own private hell. 

They dive into my personal store of regret, 

That which is a bottomless well, 

And make me rue for the chances lost, 

Welcome to my own private hell. 

One day, when I'm strong enough, 

These fiends I will surely fell, 

And banish them and shut down forever, 

My own private hell.
