Musings From The Inside
Musings From The Inside
Here in this den of mine
Cheap luxury in red
Letting me control
The reach of the sun
The air that can hit me
These long smooth things
How they shield my naked form
From opossums and cars
As I reconstruct my perspective
As I feel gratitude
For every breath, I get to take
Unencumbered
Every paper towel
I have left
Every frozen vegetable
I can still throw in water
I take turmeric
And plant my feet in the floor
As though the wet earth
And I say
Thank you
To the mother
My ferocious ally
Whose forever request
Has simply been a partnership
And from behind
My cheap perfect red
I accept
I say yes
Come what may
I will rest in her fierce beauty
And I will say yes
