Mind and Heart

They say, the Mind is mightier, the Heart humble,

So follow the former for the latter might fumble.

If you think with your mind, you won't make the wrong choices.

But how am I supposed to tell the difference between my Mind's and my Heart's voices?

They have been at a constant tussle; I don't know which one will win the fight.

And pondering over this for a lifetime I realized there lies no decisive answer;

Because when has the Heart been fully wrong and the Mind always right?

One tells me to be cautious, prudent and restrained,

The other forces me to take risks and chances, be free and brave, feel wanted and loved.

My Heart knows I want to, my mind tells me not to.

Who and how should I choose?

I am young and so confused!

The prospect of following my Heart seems tempting; my Mind warns it's absurd,

''You will end up getting hurt.''

So I listen to my mind, I have to lead a life that is far from the fun yet safe.

But soon I discover that's not what my soul craves.

So I shut out my Mind and call out to my Heart,

''Take over'' I plead.

''Too late'', says a voice from inside me, ''forever you have been freed.''

And all at once, my Mind, Heart, and Soul betrayed me.
