memories

to let go of memories 

Is a tedious process 

as they arrive uninvited 

in perfumes of strangers 

and gush away like a merciless tide 

they are too short and sweet 

drags us backwards in those we swore and survived 

memories are truly passing incredibly deeply held 

never gone, 

only buried deep within us
