Lullaby of Death
Lullaby of Death
When the sun rose this morning
Almost giddy in its blue and being
The vibrant laughter that slips into the gloom,
Nearly cocky in its gold and being
The strand of hope that thrives till doom,
The earth rose too.
And She tried to wake you
From the slumber sweet and dark and soft
From the lull of death that almost got you
She shook and snatched you away in a sky
So big and untamed and impatient to renew
It slips into dark each night along with you
It slips in blue sea and rises a brighter blue.
