Love at First Sight

The shy bride smiles from beneath her veil,

But behind that smile there is a long tale,

A tale which needs to be told 

A tale with a hero untold,

So let's listen to this love story unfold.

It all started on a warm summer day,

When a young lady, to the college made her way.

She and her raucous girlfriends filled the air with laughter,

Making many a heads turn on their way and after.

That morning she arrived in her bright pink car.

With a cloud of dust following her from afar.

Some mocked, some oohed and ahead!

Some shouted, “Oh! The colour is so bizarre!”

She turned around and said, "Ah! I know coz grapes are sour.”

The day went by and her fame only grew

Uncrowned queen of the college she was, she knew

The young lads waited with bated breath,

To dance with them for the prom, if she did

But all of them, she did scorn,

For she felt that all of them were just morons!

Then along came a dashing young man,

Wearing army fatigues and skin hued in a golden tan,

Alas! He walked with a limp and also had a prosthetic hand. 

Her friend remarked, “ Oh, I would have danced with him forever in my own La La Land!

had it not been for his hand”

As he strutted down the long winding corridor,

Our young lady stood rooted to the floor.

Her mind said, “Maybe just give him a glance or more”

But summersaults her heart did and shook her to the core!

At that very moment their eyes met,

Violins played in her mind and her heart leapt,

Her cheeks blushed as towards her he swept,

And her heart kept racing like a speeding jet.

“Excuse me! Mi lady, may I have the pleasure of this dance with you?”

He took her hand in everyone's view,

Everyone gasped as her hand she didn't withdrew,

And danced they did, till the night sky turned blue.

They both knew…. This is it…. This is love at first sight,

But when the time was up, everyone retired for the night,

And just like that, he too was out of sight,

She wondered if there was something she didn't do right?

With a tear in her eye, and a fake smile on her face,

She thought never again will I become such a disgrace. 

The very next morning, when she walked past the corridor,

Along stood the gentleman clutching in his hand flowers and more.

“Will you be mine forever? Please don't say never!”

She threw her arms around him and shed many a happy tear,

Everyone around them jumped with joy and cheer,

And the beginning of their happily ever after was THIS all my dears.
