Lies And Truth
Lies And Truth
I, a black , was raised
By a white woman.
I know I'm adopted,
But she lies.
I'm her son and she’s my mother-
She says is the truth.
‘Look around, there’s no difference,’
She says and recommences with the story
Of a human boy nurtured
By wolves, named Mogli.
I know this whole tale
Is a fiction but she denies,
And again she lies.
He was her son and she his mother-
She says is the truth.
‘Look around, there’s no difference,’
She says and recommences with the report
Of a little lion cub brought up by a canine.
For proving her point, she ignores facts
And again she lies.
Cub is the son and canine the mother-
She says is the only truth.
If creatures inferior to us
Can decipher the affections,
Then it’s better to be inferior
Than to live in ‘most-brained’.
Because again she lies,
“We’ll stay together.”
But I ain’t with her anymore.
‘Black! Black! Black!’ they say.
And I'm a born slave,
Is only the truth.
