If Only....

If only, 

The day could be,

A little longer.

If only, 

my desire to excel

Could be a little stronger.

If only,

I could stretch a little more

And reach out to the stars.

Alas ! the path is full of thorns

It leaves me with scars.

If only,

I could endure my pain

And march ahead

In the Sun and in the rain.

If only,

I could be happy

Without any reason.

If only

I could love my people

Without any reason

Without any expectation.

If only

I could live in the present

Without sulking about the past

Or building castles for tomorrow.

My life will be then

Full of smiles & free of sorrows.
