I Flew in During the Pandemic

I Flew in During the Pandemic

I flew in during the pandemic

And joined a school in Kerala in panic

19 of them online they were

10-year-olds and super excited on the screens, they were

They all seem to be virtually pro,

In PlayStations like Fortnite, my foe.

Each theme had to be inspiring and thrilling,

No resources no notes no textbook and no writing.

Sleepless nights of research I had to spend clueless,

To rediscover oceanic species, ecosystems in 3D videos countless.

Some became animal activists,

And held up their posters as pacifists

19 of them called themselves, Blasterz & Blockbusters.

By the first theme, they had become online Globetrotters.

Then the body systems they began to tour,

Digestive that starts with the tongue for flavor.

“Let’s make poop!” I doubtfully squeaked,

Oh Gosh! They indeed made crap and joyfully shrieked.

They questioned patients at distance,

Until they became bodily cognizant.

The third theme was on Civilization,

And virtual time machines got them into fascination.

Gilgamesh, Pharaohs, Qin Shi Huang, and Dancing Girl of Mohenjo Daro investigated,

Archaeologists answered their endless queries until to Chroniclers they escalated.

Monarchy Anarchy Democracy Dictatorship got them puzzled,

Judicial, Federal, and Executive Branches got them tangled and muddled.

Alvira, Nation of Freya, and Techno Prussia Press conferences were held,

These were the countries that they made in the end.

And when they heard the voices of King, Parkers, and Roosevelt in unison,

They too wanted to fight for equality as dutiful citizens.

Will, I ever meet them in person I am doubtful,

But for sure they have given me memories in bountiful.

I flew in during the pandemic,

And joined a school in Kerala in panic.

19 of them still online,

11-year-olds now, how I wish to embrace them offline.
