Fire 'n' Ice

Fire 'n' Ice

It started off on a blistering day,

Fire woke up and glanced around

Ice was melting on the ground,

He made a groaning sound.

Ice said "I say –

I’ll show you fire another day.”

Laughed the fire “melt my dear Ice melt,”

Fire sat down and had tea.

“That Ice has paid the fee,

The king of the world is me.”

Though ash and burnt was how he smelt,

Ice by now was thin as a belt.

Suddenly the temperature went low,

The sun had disappeared.

This is what fire had feared,

Ice’s cunning face appeared.

Grinned the Ice “I will tie you in to a bow,

I will squash you into dough.”

Ice had all the power,

He relaxed over lemonade.

“Fire has been paid,

That beast will never invade.

This will be his last hour,

I will sit high on a tower.”

With a bang Fire was back,

He had woken up from his sleep.

In this battle no one would weep,

They dodged and fired and pushed each other down deep.

It was time for both of them to pack,

A sudden explosion and they were gone in a sack
