Close To Sleep
Close To Sleep
I am close to sleep
But cannot just yet drift
Something keeping me awake
I cannot grip
I mistook it for something
In the past.
Something I couldn’t get
Something I didn’t care to get
Doubting, assimilating, vanishing from present
In the dark everything seems far
The distant structure
The vanity of nature
And the idea of self …
But once there is light,
even the tiny freckle
Its fickle is enough to make
even the stars in reach,
at least in sight, in vision.
Let this dark be the lesson
To remember the miracle of light.
Allow yourself to drift,
to focus,
to bring your eyes
which has got used to dark to regain its path,
Awaking to colors,
Remembering in the whiff of wind,
the way you used to smile –
A bit careless and a more carefree
and even in the most ordinary of moments
finding life,
appealing to self
of poised warmth,
of calmness,
of no hurry to be someplace else.
No more shadows to chase!
Chasing kites instead.
Running in the green fields
In the morning dew,
Studded with mud,
Breathing, blooming, becoming …
Awakening to accept the feeling of home ...!
I am close to sleep
But cannot just yet drift
Something keeping me awake
I cannot grip
It was the idea of forgone Me...
As my soul awakens
My eyes rest
Now my eyes can rest...!
