This Raakhi is much more than a sacred thread,

It is symbolic of the unique bond,

I share with you, my dear brother,

To love you and cherish you forever.

You held me every time I faltered,

Encouraged me to walk on, unhindered.

With you beside me,

Life has been fun and breezy.

A joyous childhood, rebellious teens

You stood with me through thick and thin.

A friend, a confidante since forever,

You are my secret keeper, my biggest supporter.

We laughed, we cried,

Together we made the best of what we had.

With time, the world has changed

But our love has remained unchanged

I may not say this often,

But today I am making an exception.

I want you to know; you mean the world to me
