Adieu, O' Dying Year
Adieu, O' Dying Year
As you release my hand
At this fag end,
Leaving me floating
In the river of time,
I reminisce all those
Unique memories made
By my tryst with you.
Some high, some low;
Some forgettable, some indelible;
Some timely, some deferred –
The memories you beset me with
Are the only lasting essence
I could treasure,
Before you depart.
Alas! What a fool was I
To run after the earthly riches
That neither would last
Like these memories of myriad hues
Nor would fetch me
My desired memories
That could’ve kept me alive
Even after my breaths retire!
As I bid you adieu, O dear year,
Wish me good for the year upcoming,
So I amass more memories –
Memories that may bring me riches
Of love earned, peace made, and lessons learned.
