Abandoned Villages of Galicia

Abandoned Villages of Galicia

Gallician land - a piece of Celtic kingdom,

That's rooting deeply into the past;

But now it is loosing originality and wisdom,

Ghost villages stand still - wind scatters dust.

The silent buildings are made of local slate -

These homesteads are covered with ancient tiles;

And towering chimneys puffing fairytales...-

The sadness dominates for miles and miles.

And now settlements - forsaken and abandoned,

Green woods are coming down from the hills,

Invading legacy of the ascendants,

Today - it's realm of deer, wolves and minks.

What's waiting for this debris of Doom?

Church bell for them is talling sadly;

Last residents and numerous old tombs -

Are everything what's left of Spanish Celtia.
