A Glimpse Of 2022
A Glimpse Of 2022
As 2022 comes to a close,
We reflect on the year that had just passed.
What '23 holds in store, only God knows
Because the possibilities are vast.
It all began with high spirits and hope
That the future would be brighter than the past;
Covid still made it difficult to cope,
But on the rankings, that problem came last:
People feared the approach of World War Three,
After watching Russia invade Ukraine,
Almost a year later, those fears still roam free
And the war has caused the entire world pain;
British politics became a comedy
(Badly timed with the passing of the Queen),
Having 3 PMs is an anomaly
Adding more trouble to the current scene;
The economy also worsened,
Driving up levels of inflation,
Investing now requires exertion
And we're being warned of a recession;
And the last two months were packed with events
Ranging worldwide from Twitter's downfall
Too many travel and keyworker strikes
And protests were avoiding censoring their call.
Then, to end the year, we had the World Cup,
Something that, in itself, is an event,
But this World Cup must be ranked higher up
Because, to the world, it was a gift sent.
There were some positives too, of course,
Like all the new scientific breakthroughs...
But we can only repeatedly reinforce
The hope we have for the year comes new.
