Abstract

A butterfly

A butterfly

2 mins
274

She was like a tiny butterfly,

Flying around with wings wide and open,

Delicate yet courageous,

Colourful and vivid,

Sucking nectars,

Basking in the sun,

Living life like it's gonna end tomorrow...

But now,

Her wings have drooped,

The spark of enthusiasm has withered,

And she doesn't fly anymore,

Colours around her have faded,

Weak and depressed,

She stays all by herself,

In the cold dreadful corner,

Away from the warmth of the sun,

She is like a corpse of the once lively butterfly...

Then, her eyes glimmered with hope,

Now her hopeless body hangs on the bough...

Then, she was ecstatic towards life,

Now she just hopes that the end comes sooner...

Everyone wondered,

Why the sight that was once so beautiful to behold ,

Now just fills the eyes with darkness...

Somehow she reached a sundew,

Accepting the defeat of her life,

And approached towards the end,

Embracing the darkness that was ready to engulf her..

When she noticed a young fly,

Getting strangled in the sticky hairs,

Struggling for its life,

Fighting the death that was knocking at its door,

She paused..

It was a miraculous sight,

She flew at the young fly,

Tried to rescue it from the claws of sundew,

Both were few steps away from the brink of death,

When the fly slipped into the death well,

She couldn't save it....

Her mind flew back to the times when she was young,

She reminiscened her brighter days,

When she lived every minute of her life,

Felt as if her younger self was living her last breath in front of her,

For a few moments she was motionless in the air,

And she was falling deep down,

When her wings being still strong carried her away,

She was alive...

Still alive, not only from outside,

This time from the inside too...
