Writing, for many of us, is about building our voice which is all about being honest with ourselves and knowing our value. That happens to be exactly the launching pad of Emily’s book “Highlight Real: Finding Honesty & Recovery Beyond the Filtered Life.”
Numbing out is about hiding, or not being honest, with ourselves. and as a mother, to be honest, and say “Yes, I love my children but…” is an act of rebellion in the face of all that our patriarchal society wants women to be. Not being able to say that, or even face it, has forced countless mothers to buy into the “mommy needs wine” culture. Talking about these things has been wonderful for me because my heart breaks every time, I see women being judged. We have created a society that doesn’t embrace women, and there are plenty of women that support that culture. To have Emily, and all the women I’ve had on this podcast, speaking up and supporting each other is such a joy for me.
