Burns

I put my hands in flames

like it would never burn,

Do things that I never imagined I would

like I never felt afraid to tear,

It has been a battle every day,

Every day it's like a new obstacle to spear,

It took a lot of hardships

to save what I have,

To be where I wanted to be,

To be who I am,

They say I should relax now,

Take some time to rest,

Take some time off to heal,

But how much does someone know

the feeling of burning inside?

Burns that would not heal so easily inside

like the burns in the exterior body would do,

It takes a lot of courage

to go through fire that's so destructive,

Turning everything to ashes

that is in it's path,

Turning lives around before

they even knew what would it be,

It's a courage that

does not have a simple definition,

It's just how much you trust yourself

to put everything on the line,

How much you can do

to save others and yourself

until you succumb to the burns

that you couldn't feel....
