We Are Children Of This Land
We Are Children Of This Land
A drop of water is all we need
Prayed the people with devotion,
We need the water to till our fields
And set our lives into motion.
Parched are our throats, dry our lips
Show us some pity,
We too are children of this land
And not just those who live in the city.
We too have mouths to feed
And many a stomach to fill,
And with this drought looming over our heads
We are slowly losing our heart and will.
Don't weep for us out of pity
But send us your bountiful blessings,
As we too are the children of this land
Even in our humble abodes and dressings.
The barren land stretched far
As far as the eye could see,
Not a drop of water had graced the soil
So devoid was it of any shrub or tree.
We too are children of this land
Wept the poor men,
How do you expect us to live this life,
With you being elusive yet again?
A pitter-patter came across the field
And slowly it's volume grew,
The farmers' prayers had been answered
Their lives could now be started anew.
Happy smiles blossomed across the faces
Of the tired and worn-out men,
We too are children of this land they thought
Their prayers heard and faith in the land
Restored yet again.
