I pushed the brakes and my speeding car came to a halt near the edge of the cliff. I got down and slammed the door shut as hard as I could. I took a deep breath and exhaled out all the frustration that had piled up within me. Faces and voices from my office danced in front of my eyes.

"How dare he?" I kicked a tiny stone like the way I wished to kick my boss.

Exasperation filled me as I thought of the mean look on my boss's face when he made my arch-rival, Alok Tyagi, the new CEO. I was the one who deserved the post more than he did. I sat down on a rock while trying to cope with the truth. I was still in a battle with myself when I happened to notice a fruit- vendor on the opposite side of the road. He was hardly able to sell any fruits. It was time for him to wind-up as it was already twilight. His face fell as he counted the money he had earned. Then he looked at his children playing nearby. He bought two tiny pieces of sweats for them from a shop on their way back. Their innocent faces glowed with ecstasy as they held the sweats in their little hands. The darkened face of the fruit vendor lit up as he watched his children relishing his priceless gift. They walked on and vanished in the dark.

I craned my neck in an attempt to catch yet another glimpse of the happy family. That day, I learnt an important lesson in my life. One should be happy and contented with what one has. The poor fruit vendor had inspired me to lead a life that is perfect in all the ways in spite of the imperfections. I could feel my regrets and fury evacuating out. A fresh wave of enthusiasm filled me as I got up and walked back to my car.
