Rajiv was incredulous. The lake had dried up. He was looking at a patch of barren land where the water body once reflected sunlight and cleaned him many times when he had bathed in it. His favourite spot in the entire farm had just disappeared.

"What happened Kandasamy?", He asked the farmer who had looked after his grandfather's 200 acres of land.

"It dried up over the years sir. The heat is rising every year thanks to global warming or climate change or whatever they call it and rains barely bless us anymore. This was bound to happen."

Rajiv sighed. "My kids will be really disappointed. I spoke about this lake so much that they were looking forward to play in it."

"I don't think they were interested in the first place sir", Kandasamy pointed to where Rajiv's children were sitting.

Rajiv saw his children glued to their smartphones. They barely looked up to notice the butterflies that were fluttering about.

"We've ruined their world Kandasamy", said Rajiv.
