The Missing Ice- Cream Scoop

Childhood Days are the best days of one’s Life, how late do we often realize it

Going down that lane and re-visiting the memories, still manages to bring a big smile on my face

Life has blessed me with such wonderful childhood memories, so difficult to pick the one

But the one I always treasure is the famous ice-cream one.

 

“Oh, that last 4 scoops of ice-cream resting in the freezer, that delighted my eyes as I thought

But then I remembered how mother instructed it was for the guest who was invited.

I just kept wondering to myself should I go for 1 big scoop of it, would anyone realize the missing one

What to do? It’s such a big temptation, how do I resist it

Having one scoop of ice-cream to myself shall do no harm to the guest.

With that thought in mind, as I slowly marched towards the kitchen into the darkness

What I next saw made me almost about to collapse

Some figures in the dark were at the center table were digging in and enjoying the ice-cream.

“Mom, Mom “Ice-Cream Thief” as I tried shouting and screaming at the top of my voice, but sooner those figures had covered my mouth to stop the voice coming out

I was petrified, closed my eyes tightly, my heart was beating so fast I could hear my own breadth loud and clear as they took me to the corner of the kitchen.

So this is how I would be murdered in my own house was all I could think about.

However, I was proud of myself that I caught the Ice-Cream Thief red handed even if it means risking my own life

But then I heard some familiar voices and familiar face in the dim mobile light shining in my eyes.

No sooner did I realized that my cousins and elder sibling had played pranks on me.

They had ordered an extra ice- cream to treat themselves and when they realized I was there in the kitchen, they enjoyed at my cost.

Sometimes the silliest incident occurred in our life, occupies the maximum space in our heart.

Even today remembering that incident which my parents are still not aware, brings a big smile on my face.
