The Helpful Friend

Far away from the chaos of the city life; my parents planned for a fabulous weekend in the countryside. Actually one of my father's cousin was there so we all started our journey to my uncle's house to spend some time near natural beauty..!!

It was really enjoyable to be one with the nature as we ,in this township life habit; get no chance to breathe free air as it is..!!

That area was not so large so I went alone to have a visit on my own..

On my way, I saw a house that was renovated from a boat ..very neat and carefully maintained...A boy was roaming near that house who smiled at me when we were close to each other.

"This is Tom.." with self introduction I stretched my hand towards him .

"Am David Copperfield.." the boy said shaking hands with me.

We were of approximately same age and soon became friends. We discussed many things while walking to and fro on the grass fields..

I said many things about my family,school and playground,friends..

David revealed how unfortunate he was who lose his father in his early childhood and now his mother was about to remarry a person whom he doesn't like. David came to this village with Pegotty, his caretaker and soon he doubted to be sent tp school and worried to be away from his mother…!!

I clearly marked tears in his eyes but could do nothing. David's family suffering was so critical that I felt very bad for him.

After two days my mother informed me about our return on the next day. With heaviness in my heart..I said everything about David to my mom and asked her if we can help him anyways.

"Well... Ask David if he can come to our house.. We can keep him as your brother with us..!!" My mother said . Hearing this I hugged her and ran to give this news to David.

"You won't be all alone." I said, "We will be like brothers under one roof.. My mom said.."

David was so happy but he needed time to take the decision. As he wanted to confirm what his mother wants.

With a promise to come to me anytime he feels alone; David bid me goodbye and I returned home happily as now I have the chance to change the sorrow in smiles.. It was a great feel indeed. David was no more worried now.. As he has the chance for a better life now.

"Come, David.. Your best friend Tom is waiting for you.." I murmured as I wrote my first letter to him after coming home…..
