Quite a while ago there lived a nuclear family. They liked cleaning so much that they would clean their house in such a way as if there was a big festival every day and that would waste a lot of water. In their house, taps were left running; everyone spent 2-3 hrs in the shower and 15-20 buckets were used to wash one car. Once, the father who was the earner of the family had a transfer, so they had to move to some other place that had a water shortage. After 2 days of shifting, they realised

that they were left with no more water and as per their house was concerned; it was no longer maintained properly. Tom, the kid of the family was fed up with this shortage. He went to his friend’s house to see if they were also facing the same issue. To his surprise, none of his friends was facing any issue like that just because they using their precious water in a sustainable manner. He saw that his friend and his family used to take water in small mugs for shaving or brushing their teeth. The water which was left after washing the vegetables was poured into the plants by his friend’s mother. They didn’t spend hours while bathing and used buckets instead of showers. He came back to his house and told his parents what he saw in his friend’s house. The family had realised how they were using an excess of water where just a little amount of it was required. They decided to use water, a precious resource in a sustainable manner. They had learnt their lesson and since that day, they no longer face a shortage of water. Tom’s family also spreads this message to their relatives and friends.

Moral: Water is precious, every drop counts.
