The Australian Safari

It was a cold winter, I had holidays from school because the snow was so much. My family decided we should visit my cousin in Australia because Australia is warmer.

The flight was about two days. It was a five star rated flight named “QATAR Airlines” I even had my own mini T.V! I must have watched at least 3 movies. The meals the flight attendants served were delicious. Once we reached our destination, my father had to wake me up because I was asleep. Once I got up my arms, legs and back started to hurt. But there was no way I’d let that ruin my vacation.

We went through the airport, we got our suitcases and backpacks from the baggage claim. We hailed a taxi and got in. The roads were not crowded at all! Once we reached my cousin’s house, we rang the bell, and as soon as my cousin’s father opened the door my favorite dog in the whole wide world jumped on me, ‘Koko!’ I screamed. Koko is my favorite dog in the world, he’s a Golden Retriever. My cousin’s mother said that we were going on an Australian safari, that got me all pumped up. My cousin said that we were going to “Spirit Safaris”.

Once we got there, we bought tickets for the safari from the ticket counter, then the safari guide told us to “hop in”, so we got on the bus. First, we saw some birds. The safari guide told us that they were commonly found in Western Australia and that they were called Gouldian Finches. Then we saw some Saltwater Crocodiles, as the guide started explaining, ”Saltwater Crocodiles are one of the most dangerous animals in Australia…” Suddenly, a crocodile escaped from a little hole in the big electrical fence. The guide said that there was never a hole before and to stay calm, then the guide took out her walkie-talkie and called a park ranger, as she was talking, the crocodile banged the door of the safari bus, everybody started screaming. I got so scared, I might’ve even peed in my pants! My parents said that it would be all right.

Then a park ranger came and shot the crocodile with a tranquilizer dart just in time. But that was not it, more crocodiles started crawling out of the hole. A few more park rangers started to arrive, but there were too many crocodiles! One of the park rangers got injured severely. Then a park ranger told us to get out of the bus through the emergency exit and that it would be all right. Everybody rushed through the emergency exit, the park ranger led us to the Spirit Safaris ticket counter. The manager told us that the safari was dismissed and that all our money would be refunded because of the inconvenience and that she was sorry, she also said that the hole would be fixed. I was just glad we made it through in one piece. We drove to my cousin’s house, by the time we got home it was eight o'clock, I decided to go to bed early because after all that had happened I think I needed a good night’s sleep.
