Proud To Be Paige!

Paige, an innocent-green baby python lives in a far-off jungle with Mamma Python and Papa Python. Both Mamma python and Papa python were vegans (who does not eat or use animal products) and they wanted Paige to follow their footsteps.

Papa python was a well-known Protagonist and Mamma python was a Social-activist. Every fellow being looked up to Mamma and Papa python, in the jungle.

Paige hung all the time on a gargantuan Poinciana Tree. Paige was at Poinciana’s care when Mamma and Papa python’s were out on their mission to fight against ANIMAL CRUELTY. Paige addressed the enormous-wild tree as Aunt Poinciana who often gave good advice and read bedtime stories for Paige.

It was a warm Sunday morning and Paige was up and excited because Mamma and Papa pythons usually stayed home on Sundays. Paige was looking forward for an interesting day. “Mamma-Papa, wake up! It’s Sunday. Let’s go out”

“We had a long week and we need to rest my dear Paige,” pleaded Mamma python.

“Oh come on…you promised,” frowned Paige. With Paige there was never a dull moment. She was filled with excitement and stayed delighted with everything she came across.

She decided to allow her parents rest and set herself off on a picnic. She ran down aunt Poinciana to meet her friend Meru, the meerkat.

“Aunt Poinciana, I’m heading out on picnic with Meru. See you in the evening.”

“ Have fun little one and be safe.”

Meru and Paige wondered off into the deepest of the jungle. They always enjoyed adventurous moments. Meru was thoughtful, tiny but an intelligent friend. He always led Paige into cheerful and fun filled moments.

As Paige and Meru were playing tree-to-tree, they happened to see a huge abandoned nest on a bald tree bark. Paige was eager to watch it from close but Meru warned her of danger. As usual Paige being Paige, she dragged him along her tail and took Meru to the deserted nest.

“Look Meru, have you ever seen a gigantic purple spiky egg in your

life?”

“OMG! Paige, it’s a gigantically grown spiky egg of some massive creature. I suppose we are heading for some serious trouble. We must leave!”

“Oh no Meru… Can’t you see? It’s so beautiful! The place is deserted and I am sure the purple giant spiky is all-alone. I can’t leave her to die. We must take her take her along.”

“ Are you kidding me, Paige? That’s going to be a huge mistake!”

“Please Meru…let’s take him. I promise to take good care of him.”

“I don’t know Paige. I don’t think it’s a good decision but I am with you.”

Paige and Meru end their picnic and head home with the colossal purple spiky egg. Meru wasn’t happy with Paige’s decision but he knew she meant well. They both decide to inform aunt Poinciana about the entire episode to avoid sticky situations with their respective parents.

Aunt Poinciana always protected them and served them with good piece of advice. But this time around, She appeared really upset and angry with Paige and Meru.

“How could you do this Paige? No mother leaves her egg alone. I am sure she was out for her lunch or some daily chores. When she comes back and finds her egg missing, there’s going to be havoc in the jungle. Do you realize whose egg this is?”

“Don’t scare me, aunt Poinciana…whose egg is this?”

“Meru…. I thought you were smarter than this.”

“I am…hmmmm…. Oh No.”

“It’s a T-Rex’s egg. You think T-Rex understands the Protagonist father and activist mother of yours? Both your parents work really hard against animal cruelty and you in turn have become the reason for one.

T-Rex slays and that’s the only language she knows. Paige you have not only put yourself in danger but your family and entire fellow beings.”

“I am sorry, aunt Poinciana.”

“Don’t be apologetic to me…. head fast and return the egg.”

Paige and Meru begin to run as fast as possible .She doesn’t want to bring disgrace to her parents’ efforts.

“What have I done, Meru? I am truly a disgrace!”

“No, Paige…You meant well for Spiky and I’m sure your good intentions will definitely pay off.”

“Oh…thank you so much Meru… You’re truly my BFF!!!”

As Paige and Meru were discussing, the gigantic-purple- piky egg begins to vibrate. Paige and Meru hurry towards the nest and they manage to place the egg safely and there you hear a loud…Thudddd!!!… The egg cracks open!

A beautiful and bright yellow smiling little T-Rex crops out and begins to caress Paige and she immediately embraces Meru.

“Paige, this is THE most stunning experience ever.”

“I swear Meru…I have never come across a picturesque of the type. Truly amazing!”

“Paige, let’s leave quickly before the mother T-Rex spots us.”

“I guess you’re right! Let’s move.”

Both Paige and Meru begin to march quickly only to hear a loudestttttt…of the loudest roarrrrrrr… ever!

“Meru, What have I done? I have brought trouble to everyone. Look, the mother T-Rex is chasing us and is heading towards the jungle.”

“Paige, take a close look. She looks happy with Spiky in her arms. I don’t think she’s chasing us.”

“Whattttt! Are you kidding me? Let me take a quick glance…. OHHH…. Yes Meru, but I don’t want to take any chance with her. Let’s run to aunt Poinciana.”

An offensively thumping foot gets closer. Both Paige and Meru reach the POINCIANA tree and they take refuge in her. The T-Rex approaches aunt Poinciana.

“Look, you massive wild Tree…I am frantically in look out for those brats who crack opened my little Spiky. Did you see them? Call. Them. NOW.”

“No…No…Mother T-Rex. They are good kids and were protecting your baby. They meant well and didn’t intend to harm.”

“Haaah…I know… you silly tree… I learnt the fact from Spiky. She says they thought I had abandoned Spiky and decided to take her along. I am not here to harm any of them. I am here to thank them.”

“Oh good lord…. That’s such a relief Mother T-Rex.”

In the meanwhile, loud roar of T-Rex has brought the quiet Sunday afternoon to a stand still. Every being had gathered to know what was happening. Mamma Python and Father python lazily crept out and to their surprise the entire jungle had gathered.

“Hey you blessed ones…. You have a wonderful kid-Paige. She has a warm heart and has protected my Spiky in my absence. It is obvious to have a python like Paige for parents who are activists. Keep up the good job”… howled T-Rex.

Father and Mother python learnt everything that had happened from aunt Poinciana. They felt extremely proud about Paige. “Paige…. Darling, you have made us proud today. We take extreme pride in you and your social service. Keep at it and continue to honor your fellow beings.”

Aunt Poinciana grins widely and pats both Paige and Meru as they head towards yet another exciting adventure.

“Hey… Paige, you’re fantastic! Truly…. it was ONE adventurous Sunday for us.”

“Ahhhhha…. Not so soon…. Look what I’ve found,” smirks Paige.

“Now what? ...Oooo…noooo… not again Paige”…. runs Meru.

“Meru wait… You were right, one good turn deserves another! We shall continue our community service with Pride.”

“Okayyyyy Paige…Can we take a break?”

Paige and Meru continue to have adventurous Sundays and they lived happily ever after.
