Paper Boats

Her deft fingers got busy etching out definite forms from the plain white sheets sprawled on her table. It took the shape of little white paper boats. With great care and joy, she painted each one with the colours of the rainbow in varying patterns and designs. She marvelled at her own crafts work with much delight. Each distinct and unique in its beauty...but was there something missing?

Something that left them incomplete? The wind blew and a still leaf flew...yes!!! "Movement".. .A moment of epiphany. She bends herself over the canal and set her little paper boats down one after the other on the running water. The paper boats took life and floated down with the flowing water." what a beautiful sight", she heard her mind murmur..But the next moment, her excitement turned to exasperation as the beautiful forms disappeared into the distance beyond... into invisibility...
