My Sister, My True Friend
My Sister, My True Friend
I love my friends but when it comes to talking straight from my heart, I’d say it’s my sister who is my best friend and the one responsible for the little success I have achieved today. She has been my sister, my friend, mentor, my inspiration and my conscience. Even today, if I have to share anything, she would be the first person I would call. The one, whom I can share all my secrets with.
We all go through challenging times and experience ups and downs. Most of us can cope with one thing going wrong in our life, but with two or three things go wrong at once, it can be harder to cope. I also love that I am able to tell her anything and everything. I could text her whatever is on my mind, and she will respond–no matter how outrageous it is. She accepts my weird habits and strange thoughts. Most importantly, she accepts me.
I still remember when I was struggling very hard in grade 11 with my physics classes. I got very bad marks in the first semester exams. I used to cry and find it very difficult to understand the concepts, and wanted to switch over my subjects. My sister, although very busy with her own studies then sat with me continuously for two months and cleared all my concepts. She used to teach me every day at night and also prepared me for my next exams. After that, I never ever faced any difficulty with the subject. I cannot thank her enough for that.
After my graduation, she convinced my parents to let me take my NIFT entrance exam, which gave me a platform to become a designer. And now, my move from a designer to a visual artist was again suggested by my sister. It was she who instilled in me that the journey is long, and that I should have courage and belief in my work and that I don’t get dejected by criticism. Some times, the response may come very slowly, but if I have faith in what I am doing, I will get there. All the credit of me being an artist-entrepreneur today goes to my sweet sister Vibhuti.
She has been there for me for so many important events in my life. She celebrated with me through the good, stood by me through the bad, and supported me through the times I struggled. She has seen me at my best times and my worst. I love that I am able to call her at any hour, and I always know that her voice will be on the other end of the phone. She has always been my biggest cheerleader and I love her for that.
The best part about our relationship is that distance doesn’t change us. While I prefer not to, we are able to spend time away from each other and pick up right where we left off. It is so easy to lose connection with someone when there are miles between us, but that never happened to us. This just goes to show how close that we are, and how strong our friendship has grown.
Thank you for being not just my person, but my person who never left.
