Let’s Discipline Our Son

Yeah, you are right. I am going to write about my son. Well, like all the other mothers, I too, love my son dearly. Sometimes he is too over-pampered. I have often heard my friends saying how they have disciplined their children, it is obvious, by smacking or spanking them. Even now, many parents believe in the famous quotation - Spare the rod and spoil the child. For many parents giving corporal punishments is equivalent to disciplining their child. Well, I don't share the same opinions as those parents. Touchwood, I have never beaten my child so far. Of course, he is very naughty and mischievous. But at the same time, he is too young to understand the rigid rules and norms of society. So, this is the only and most important reason why I have not ever raised my hand to hit my son when he does any mistake. Rather than beating him, I often share with him how clumsy I was when I did the same thing when I was young. But at the same time, I do explain to him, how I suffered due to my bad behavior and how I regret it now. Then, I do explain to him the correct way of handling certain things,

As a birthday gift, my husband gave our son a new tablet. Well, more than attending the online lectures, my son would play games and watch YouTube on it. We already do have a laptop, mobiles, so, I was a bit reluctant and against gifting a tab. But who would butt in the father-son pair? My son has already broken our mobile phones many times by carelessly handling them. So, I decided to warn him about handling the tab properly. And I wanted my husband too, to warn our son. And he did so. I could never forget the way my husband gave a warning to our son about how to handle the new tablet. The doting father scolded his dear son, "Use the tab carefully, do not jump around while using it. If it is broken by any chance then, I will…………"

Can you guess what my husband must have said next? Like you, even I was anticipating a strong warning statement to follow. But I was dumbstruck when I heard him complete his statement. But at the same time, I realized that it is love and care that will discipline your child instead of hurling punishments at them for every mistake they do.

"Use the tab carefully, do not jump around while using it. If it is broken by any chance then, I will buy you a bigger and better tab."
