Bushy Of Narayanipur

Bushy Of Narayanipur

Hi, I am Bushy, and I live in Narayanipur. My home is not so cozy, but this window shed is perfect for me.

A girl named Narayani lives in the flat upstairs. She is too fond of me. There are three of us living here: Gigi, Biscuit, and Milky, but I happen to be the apple of her eye. She doesn't eat fish, but every Sunday, she gets the best fish fillet for me.

Her mother always gives me some extra crumbs of 'ruti' dipped in the dripping bowl of ghee. Life is pure bliss for me. I often see Gigi feeling jealous about the cuddles Narayani gives me every evening when she comes down to play.

"Oh! My darling Bushy. Come to me. Let me cuddle you for a while before I go out to play basketball with my friends.

Your tail is so bushy. You are so sweet, 'Sona.'"

Looking at Narayani's manner of showering love, Gigi, Biscuit, and Milky too would approach her, expecting her to treat them in the same way she treats me.

I wish I could talk to Narayani and tell her,

"Hey, look Narayani, I love you a lot. My friends love you too. Could you also love them in the same way you love me?" But all I end up doing is purring and mewing.

This makes her extremely happy, and she cuddles me for a little bit longer.

The other day, when Narayani gave me an extra fillet, I ran down to share it with Gigi. But Gigi had already finished chewing the fish bones from the trash bin, so I had to share it with Milky.

But one day, my world turned upside down. It was all because I saw Narayani and her family leaving their flat forever. They were busy packing their stuff.

That night, Biscuit came running and declared,

"Now, who will feed you, Bushy? Narayani and her parents have started packing. Today they have given you a 'ruti' without any ghee."

I sniffed it and could not eat it because I was feeling too sad. I went to sleep without eating the 'ruti.' I dreamt that I was going to travel to new, new places with Narayani, perhaps to China or Germany. But when I opened my eyes, I found Narayani cuddling me. I was indeed in a new city with my best friend, Narayani.

I heard her say,

"How could I leave you, dear Bushy? I am too fond of you. You will always be my Bushy of Narayanipur."

I do miss Biscuit, Gigi, and Milky, but I am sure I will go back one day to meet them too.

For now, I can just purr and mew happily.
