ALL FOR A SHOW
ALL FOR A SHOW
“I got it! I got a part in the show!” exclaimed Flora as she stared at her computer screen. Her best-friend, Lucas went up to her and congratulated her. Flora had gotten the lead role in a show in a small theatre. It was her dream to become an actress.
“We must celebrate the good news! Let’s go and celebrate the amazing news at the nearby café.” After going to the café they decided to pay a visit to the theatre. They soon reached the modish looking building. They walked in and the walls of the theatre was covered in burgundy. Lucas spotted the director at a distance talking to one of the actors. The friends walked up to him.
“Hi, sir. I am Flora and I will be acting for the lead role.” Flora said to him.
“Oh, right. Rehearsals begin tomorrow and who is he?” Mr. Smith asked pointing towards Lucas. Lucas introduced himself and the friends left feeling jubilant.
The next day when both the friends showed up at the theatre, people were already rehearsing. Flora rushed towards the assistant director, Mike for her scripts. He handed Flora a few papers and approached Lucas.
“Umm… can you please call the tailor for me? He is just a few block from here.” Mike asked. Lucas nodded, he was an altruistic boy. Minutes later he walked in with the tailor who handed the costumes to Mr. Smith. Mr. Smith gave the costumes to the actors for trial. All of them came out in baggy clothes, the sizes were 3 times too big. Most of the actors complained. Mr. Smith shot a death glance at Mike, who was equally shocked.
“These sizes are all wrong!” Mike screamed at the tailor.
“Yes sir, that’s what we thought when you informed us about the changes in the size, from a different number.” The tailor replied sincerely.
“What, no not at all.”
“Do all of you want the show to be cancelled? If so we might need close the theatre. It’s clearly in debt!” Mr. Smith screamed with tears in his eyes. “Just redo the costumes and get to work all of you!” Lucas and Flora were horrified, they didn’t want the show to be cancelled. For a few weeks everything was fine at the theatre. Until another rehearsal. Suddenly all the actors lost their scripts and they needed new scripts. So yet again Mike went on to ask another favor from Lucas.
“I know you’re here to support your friend. But can you please get the scripts from the cyber café?” Mike asked. Lucas hesitantly nodded. He reached the cyber café soon and found the male lead there.
“Hi!” Lucas greeted him. He looked as pale as a ghost. He handed him the scripts and told him that he would soon be there. He was confused but took the scripts and left. But as soon as he reached the theatre, the young actor was already there.
“How in the world, did he reach there so fast?!” Lucas thought to himself and gave the scripts to Mike who distributed it to the actors.
“My script is wrong!” Flora said. All the actors one by one complained that their script was wrong. The last one to complain was the male lead. Mr. Smith glared at Lucas.
“You messed up!!!” he said.
“It cannot be me. These were handed to me by the male lead, James!” Lucas said in his defense.
“I don’t think it’s your fault but James was here the whole time!” Mike explained.
“How can he be present in two places at the same time? Unless… he has a…twin” Flora stated.
“But I do…not…don’t.” James quickly said. He was sweating and looked washed out.
“I am going to the cyber café again.” Lucas suggested. Once he reached the cyber café she talked to the owner.
“The scripts were all wrong!” Lucas said.
“But some guy named Jack reprinted them.”
“Who?!?! How does he look?”
“He wears a casual red t-shirt and jeans.” that sounded like the perfect definition of James. “He just left if you want to talk to him.” Lucas dashed out of the café and started following him. Jack made a stop and Lucas caught up with him. He looked just like James.
“Wait!” Lucas said.
“Huh!”
“The director is looking for you so come with me.”
“Uhhh…ummm….okay.” the pale and nervous guy said.
When they both reached the theatre everyone was shocked to see Jack. Lucas explained everything and called out to James.
“Please explain this James.” Mike said.
“Ugh…ok. Jack, he is my twin and we wanted to close the theatre to build our own house. And yes, we informed the tailor about the wrong sizes.” James confessed. Everyone looked disgusted at James.
“You must leave at once!” Mr. Smith said. The twin brothers turned to leave. “You saved the day, Lucas. But who will replace James?”
“Who has been watching every rehearsal: Lucas!” Mike replied.
The show took place a few days after and it was an amazing one.
